About Us

Doug and Patti Rose are a husband and wife team who work together providing training and consulting on a variety of technology and communication topics. Although their specialty is technology for visually impaired people, they are skilled trainers for many applications on a window’s based computer.

Doug and Patti met online about 20 years ago. Doug is a visually impaired person with a background in teaching people on access technology. Besides his firsthand experience with access technology he also has an A + Service Technician Certification from the Microcomputer Industry Assoc. and a Trainer's Certificate from the Access Technology Institute.

Patti has a 20 year background working in aerospace as a technical analyst before starting her work with blind people. With her experience as the wife of Doug and her bachelors degree in Interdisciplinary Studies: Technical and Scientific Writing, Patti is the other principal of Rose Communication Services. Patti is now a Counselor-Teacher and does home visits to help newly blinded people with their adjustments.

Rose Communication Services is located in McKinleyville, CA, a small town 90 miles south of the Oregon border. While we work primarily in Humboldt and Del Norte counties we provide technology training via phone and internet to those who live outside our local area.

We offer training and consulting on a variety of technology and communication topics. We help people learn computer skills, and we specialize in assistive technology for people with visual impairments.

We offer a range of resources and training that may be as simple as finding a talking watch or as complex as learning advanced adjustment skills for living independently. We help you develop your innate abilities through skills development, coaching and training. Some of our specialties include:

Training and skills development is customized to the individual. We work with your individual personality and needs to help you achieve your goals. We have worked with individuals in person, over the telephone, through e-mail or through our online classroom. These options are all part of providing you with the service and learning experiences that you desire.
